Angela tells about the unusual premiere of her new piece, "Romanza Chirico."
Angela Marshall surprised guests at a Texas wedding reception with the premiere of her new piece, "Romanza Chirico", at Audrey and Joseph Chirico's wedding on October 5. "It was a surprise for me as well," Angela said, "I didn't think they would have a keyboard, so I hadn't planned on playing it for them that night." The keyboard was a last minute addition to the outdoor wedding when the bride decided she wanted her brother to play her down the aisle. "It was a bit of a scramble to set it up," Angela said. "Every time Audrey left the room I would whisper to the wedding coordinator, the DJ, the guitarist. I had to borrow equipment from several people. It was tricky to get everything set up without Audrey or Joseph noticing what was going on, but everyone helped out. When I finally sat down to play it was too dark, so a guest pulled out his iPhone and held it over my shoulder to light the music. Audrey and I grew up playing piano together, so I thought writing a piano piece would be a special way to celebrate her wedding."
